*imagine a clever play on words with the word 'Nursey'*

My brain is mush these days. J has to remind me about things that I used to have to remind HIM about. So just imagine that I thought of some clever title. I wanted to put "Hellooooooooooo Nurse(ry)!", from the cartoons I used to watch when I was little, but J didn't get it.

Anyways!

We have started the nursery! We painted it "Pale Daffodil", I found this great lamp on Kijiji, and we purchased and assembled a crib.

It's coming along nicely! Now we are currently looking for this Winnie the Pooh decal that has all of them hugging. But freakin' Amazon.com won't le me ship to Canada. Bah!

Baby registry? Check!

For our wedding last year, it was so hard for us to register for gifts because we already lived together and didn't really need any 'stuff'. This time around, it was a lot easier. We don't have a baby yet, so naturally, we don't have any 'stuff' for a baby yet!

We made our way to Babies R Us and sat down at the registry counter. We got one of those 'beep beep' things and they also printed out a list. Now, the list was wayyyyyyy longer than the list we brought (ie, you don't need a toddler car seat right now!), but there were a few things on there that we had forgotten about.

We started in bedding and after 1.5 hours, had woven our way around the store so much that we are now experts at locating things at Babies R Us. Seriously, quiz us, we'll find what you can't!

Get this, at one point, J even said "This is kind of fun!" and I was like "Totally!"

We went a bit crazy with the Winnie the Pooh stuff, but it's so cute and has a good message!!!

So anyways, something that we really weren't looking forward to ended up being a fun adventure.......hopefully Labour will turn out the same?

Gananoque. A-ok!

Wow, it's hard to find something that rhymes with Gananoque!

So for our first anniversary over the Victoria day weekend, we decided to use some saved up travel points and book a hotel in Gananoque in the 1000 islands region of Ontario. A 1.5 hour drive from Ottawa, we were there in time for dinner on Friday. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, but would have loved to stay at the Gananoque Inn that I've heard so much about. Unfortunately, I can't seem to justify spending at least $200 a night, even for an anniversary!

Saturday morning, after breakfast we drove down to the shoreline and bought our tickets for that afternoon's 5 hour cruise. They have 1 hour, 2.5 hour and 5 hour cruises. The 1 and 2.5 just travel around on the water, but the 5 hour cruise stops at Heart Island, an American island that houses Boldt Castle. During the day, we munched on fish and chips and spent some time walking around the quaint little town. It's was foggy that morning, but luckily it cleared up in time for our cruise (and for me to get a mega sunburn!). Off we went!!!

We got to see plenty of my favourite things: Lighthouses!
After about an hour and 15 minutes, we could see Boldt castle peaking through the trees on Heart Island.
We got off the boat and had to wait in line for American customs. Yes, it's an American island and you have to show your passport. A bit ridiculous, but I guess they have to follow the rules at that border just like any other border. It was worth the short wait, as the castle and it's hydro house and guest house were a sight to see.

Inside, the castle was decorated very Victorian-like with antiques everywhere. Here's one picture. To see the rest of the rooms, you'll just have to go there yourself!

Boldt castle was built by George Boldt for his wife Louise. He wanted to show her a symbol of his love and all over the island there are hearts...in the garden, in the rock walls, everywhere. Unfortunately, Louise died suddenly and all work ceased on Boldt castle. The area was bought in later years and restored so that people could come see a castle from a very romantic love story. You can go to http://www.boldtcastle.com/, you can find a lot more info. Here's George and Louise Boldt. Very handsome!
After our tour of the inside of the castle (on May 21st, the day the world was apparently supposed to end, the lights went off suddently and everyone was like "Oooh, it's starting!!!". Turns out some kid flipped the switch by accident!), we strolled around the grounds and had some juice and snacks. We also took some time to pose, of course!

There was even smaller version of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris!

On our way back, we got to see a statue of St. Lawrence, after which the St. Lawrence Seaway is named. He was tucked away in some trees on a cliff of some random island....would you be able to find him?
